Bosch Tool Gargoyle Sculpture

The goal of this sculpture was to showcase the many tool options and accessories Bosch has to offer to the consumer.
“Bubbles” the gargoyle is made from sandpaper, saw blades, drill bits, cutters, grinders, paddles blades, etc all manufactured under the Bosch brand label.
I was responsible for the wings of the gargoyle. The wings were created on a support structure made from pencil wire that was rolled and welded into a general “wing” shape.
Then, fabric was draped over the wireframe structure and resin brushed on top so the wings would keep shape.
The wings were made to be removable for ease of packing and transportation to trade shows and events.
I attached a variety of sizes of reciprocating saw blades to the inside of the wings in a pattern for a feather effect.
The outside of the wings also had a feather effect that I made from staggered sanding pads along the outside, attaching them with the curve of the wing.
Along the bottom I used long strips of sand paper (the kind you would typically use on straight line pneumatic sanders).
The final effect was just what the client wanted! After her grand tour of trade show the gargoyle now lives in Bosch's home office in Mount Prospect, IL and was dubbed "Bubbles".
